Kingdoms
A lot like the clans, but a bit different.
The Families run the exact same way, except no king/queen/princes/princesses.
King
The ruler of the kingdom and leader of the main pride of his kingdom.
Queen
The king's spouse.
Heir
The king's heir.
Prince/Princess
Any other cubs of the king and queen or the king's siblings.
General
The king's military adviser. (In the case of Families, the Lord's military adviser.)
Lords
Leaders of smaller prides, that own land within the kingdom. Usually passed on from father to son, but can be any male from the lord's pride, and the king can settle disputes over this.
(In the case of the Families, the Lord is the leader of the pride.)
Ladies
The spouses of the lords and the princes.
Commanders
Under the general, they are in charge of organizing patrols and the borders.
(In the case of Families, these are more like general nobles.)
Healers
Responsible for the health of their pride.
Warrior-Hunters
Elite fighters and hunters, they are the best of the best. They are often the ones on the front lines in battle.
Warriors
Usually just border guards, they are normally only sent in as back up for warrior-hunters in battle.
Hunters
The ones who do the vast majority of the hunting for the pride.
Clans
Clans are the most common type of group for Great Lions, and are actually the common one for all of Terra Fera's big cats.
For the time being, we will not be using clans.
King
Very simply, the king, ruler, and overseer of the clan. His word is law for his subjects.
Queen
The king's primary spouse, who can rule in his absence.
King's 2nd Mate/Wife (Some clans refer to the spouse as a husband/wife, but most use "mate" as "husband/wife" is considered a human term.)
In most clans the king is expected to take a second spouse as well as a queen. It's for the security of the clan's future, ensuring that if anything were to happen to the queen, or the heir, the king's 2nd mate could provide him with an heir or become his new queen.
Heir
Usually the king and queen's son, but sometimes a daughter if they have no son. The 2nd mate of the king will only be the mother of the heir if the queen dies childless.
Prince(s)
Other sons of the king, or the king's brothers. Usually, they act as advisers to the king and the only one higher than them is the heir, the queen, and the king. Other times they act as heads of the royal guard.
Princess(es)
More just a ceremonial title, these are the daughters or sisters of the king. They have little power in truth, and most times are married off to strengthen alliances.
General
A trusted friend of the king usually, he is just below, and sometimes equal to a prince in rank. The general is responsible for the warriors and border guards of the clan and aiding the king in any military actions that most be made.
Lords
High ranking nobles of the clan, usually acting as the king's council.
Ladies
The spouses of any lords, the general, or non-heir princes.
Royal Guard
The Royal Guard are far more like knights than simple guards. They are entrusted with the safety of the king and his family. Chosen by the king and any princes, they can come from any rank so long as they impress the royals enough and prove to be highly loyal and great fighters.
Commanders
A rank under General, they are chosen by to act more or less like his helpers. This rank is usually the highest a commoner can expect to get in a great lion clan.
Healers
Not ranked among the others in the clans, healers are higher than most, often even more respected than the king, but really, they don't have much more power or rank higher than a Commander or Royal Guard.
Warrior
The highest respecting rank for a commoner, it takes a lot to become a warrior. Warriors are not mere border guards, but are true warriors, and are the ones usually sent should the king wish to conquer his enemies.
Hunters
The most common rank in the typical clan, they are the ones who feed the clan.
Border Guard
Truly the lowest and worst rank for a clan lion to find themselves in, there's just about no hope of getting out of it. They live at outposts, away from the rest of the clan, along the border and defend and patrol that part of the border.
Commoners
Unranked individuals, usually the spouses of border guards, warriors, and Commanders, as well as the old or retired. Depending on their situation, this can be a very low or a mid level rank.
Wanderer Prides
Another common group, these are nomadic and peaceful prides. There actually is little to no strict hierarchy among them. There is normally a generally accepted leader, his/her family, and whomever chose to join them. All individuals in the pride are treated as equals and everyone is responsible for something, suited to their personal strengths.
We also are not using Wanderer Prides for awhile, but I though the info on them would be useful anyway.
The Elders (We are not actually using Elders, since it would basically be the Staff, but this is here in case you need the reference.)
The Elders are actually above all Great Lions in rank, ruling over and guiding them all. Only leaders and healers may have direct contact with the Elders.
Elders
The actual Elders.
Caretakers
More or less younger lions chose to hunt for, protect, and guard the Elders, but eventually, they one day become Elders themselves. They have paint on their faces in order to mark them as belonging to the Elders. They are always messengers for the Elders.
Loners
Lions who have chosen a solitary, but peaceful life.
Rogues
Aggressive lions who wish to only follow their own laws. Sometimes they travel/live alone, other times in groups.
