Stick to your sub species' standards for colors please!
For example if you want to play a Snow Lion, your character must be white or off white with blue, green, red, or violet/purple eyes, or they can be Albino(all white, no ear tips, pink nose, pink eyes, pink skin).
Also keep in mind your Group's standards!
For example, both Golden Suns and Fallen Stars are standard Great Lions, but Fallen Stars tend to have browns and dark tan colors, where Golden Suns (as their namesake) have golden or creamy pelts, generally bright tones of either. This info in found in the Choosing a Pride thread.
Hybrid Characters are allowed!
To get around the restrictions of certain sub species, it is possible to make hybrids character. Let's say you want a violet eyed lion, the semi-large build(Forest lions and Mountain lions are this size), with standard fur, and a dark pelt. You're character would obviously be a hybrid of a Snow Lion and a Standard Great Lion, since the standards for Standard Great Lions are medium-large build, standard fur, any colors(except white), and Snow Lions are large build and allow for violet eyes. For 1st gen customs you're allowed to cross as many as you need to make the perfect character.
Small accessories/jewelry are allowed, but be mindful of rank!
Jewelry in Great Lion cultures usually represent ranks and position, others act as family crests basically(you can make your own if you'd like. Any descendants of your character will then have to have one).
Here's a few of the standard ones for rank/position-
Thin silver bands are normally for ranks. 1 means Hunter, 2 for Warrior/Guard, 3 for Warrior-Hunter, and 4 for Healer.
Thin golden bands are normally for positions. 1 means Commander or a basic noble. 2 for Generals or any other sort of high ranking individual. 3 are for royals/leaders normally.
Ear piercings are uncommon, as a lion would have to find a human to do it for them, but not unheard of. These would basically be just a sign of how rich a individual is. Such things are normally just plain silver or gold, maybe bronze, or any other various metal for lower ranking lions.
Basically you are allowed any small accessories that would be plausible for your character to have, keeping in mind this is an early medieval like time period.
If your character has a mate, females have a small white band made from shell beads(or in the case of Snow Lions, white stone). Males have a pale blue one, made from a stone common in Terra Ferus.
Scars are definitely allowed!
Actually, they are encouraged if your character is a rogue. Here's a quick thing on rogues.
If your character was an exile(meaning they just can't return to their home pride), all Great Lions mark exiles by tearing off most of the right ear. Outcasts, whom are basically shunned by all prides, have both of their ears torn, to show they are a criminal.
No "sparkle" lions!
Just because this is a "fantasy" RP, does not mean you can have bright pink lions with wings or anything else weird. We want this to be "fantasy" in the sense of the culture and world, not how they look.
You are mostly free to do as you like with marking patterns.
You may be asked to make a few tweaks if they are too unnatural, but we are allowing more unique markings should you want them. Just no spots or stripes please! (Especially not spots. Great Lions hate leopards, and you wouldn't want anyone mistaking your character for one XD)
