As Peace mentioned in a news post, she and I are thinking of a set fighting and hunting system, with hit points, levels, and so forth, using the dice roll plugin we installed onto the site. Here's an example of how it would be used(then I'll go more into the details):
Commander Pari came across an angry fox. It seems determined to fight him. (Let's just go with this example, okay? XD)
Fight Stats(We would have a thread you could check for these)
Fox:
30HP
Bite (-5HP to you if hit. Roll D10. Odd is miss.)
Pari:
500HP
Bite (roll D10)
Claw (roll D10, +3)
Pari claws at the fox.
W3CX9mh|1-10
+3
-4HP to fox
The fox attempts to bite Pari.
1-10
-5HP to Pari
And so on...
-------------------------------------------------------------------
These fights would only occur in official patrols(Warrior Outpost) and hunting parties(Food Pile), and could only be thrown at you by staff or the party/patrol's head(who ever set it up).
Hunting would more likely be a 50/50 chance of success with buffs to either you or the prey. For example let's say your a Coastal lion in the Tide Family. You're hunting a seal. If it's on land, there's only a 20% chance of it escaping. If it's in the water, there's an 80% chance of it escaping. (You'd roll a D10. If it's on land, 9 or 10 it escapes. If it's in water, 3-10 it escapes.)
Tougher prey might trigger a fight instead though if it's something that would fight back(like wild boar).
Fishing would be pretty simple. We'd come up with some formula that would determine what you roll, then the number you roll is how many fish you caught. (Most Great Lions fish, not just Coastal Lions.)
The reason behind this is we want the pride groups to be more like structured RPing, where the Rouges/Loners would be less structured.
Your HP would restore once you finish the patrol/hunt.
It would be entirely possibly to come across a group of opponents. For example a pack of four rogue wolves, which would fight collectively against you and your party. You would have to be strategic about it in those cases.
Unaffiliated NPC Lions
You could also come across unaffiliated lions. These would have a few options. You could just fight them for EXP, warn them off(something like "You're trespassing", and then they just leave. It might fail and cause a fight though), or you could attempt to recruit them. If you fight them, and win, you can choose to take them captive, making them join your pride as an NPC. Captives act like any other NPC, and are simply pride members without rank, however, the party's head gets to design them and write them up.
Only a staff member can throw an unaffiliated lion at your party
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Levels and Abilities
Levels would be earned by getting enough EXP to level up your character. Every opponent and prey would have an amount of EXP earned by defeating them. Leveling up would then give you more HP(let's pretend you get 100 HP for every level, so at level 8 it would be 800HP). Certain levels would also get you better attack abilities. Let's say you start of with bite, which is just the D10 roll, but at level 5 you get Claw, which is the roll +3. Of course, these are all very rough numbers right now and will need some work to get them perfect.
Certain ranks, and possibly prides, would also give you boosts or abilities. Let's use the Fallen Stars as an example. The character for this example is Pari again. Since he's level 5, he has Bite and Claw attacks, but he's a FS, so he also gets Ambush, which gives is +1 per level to the roll, however, can only be used as the first move in the fight. Let's take the fox example again. He starts the attack with Ambush, rolling a 6, and thus hitting it with a -10HP.
There also may be things you could get from praying at the temples/to the Ancestors that could help you in a fight.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Healers
Healers don't just sit around in their dens all day waiting for someone to get sick or injured. That would be boring! Healers are actually trained pretty well in fighting, and so they can join your patrols. Plus, healers can, obviously, heal their fellow party members, giving a chance to restore their HP a bit. The higher the healer's level, the higher amount of HP is restore, and also the better chance of success in healing. The chance would increase every few levels, and likely start at something like 5% chance of success.
Injuries
Sometimes a serious injury can occur in a fight or hunt. When this happens, you have to go back to the camp/den site and to the healers den. Here will be a list of injuries/illnesses and what it means for your character. Most injuries will have a time for how long they last, or you can find a skilled enough healer to fix you up, shorting or completely getting rid of the injury.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainees
Young lions will need to choose what rank they want in their adult life at around 6-8 months old, then will start training under an assigned mentor. Trainees won't be able to fight opponents when their mentor takes them on patrols, and can't take down tough prey, but they'll earn a bit of EXP just from observing their mentor and the party members from a safe distance! The EXP earned will likely be something like x% of the EXP that opponent gives for defeating it (so if it's 10% and it gives 100 EXP, the trainee would get 10 EXP). The percentage could possibly go up if the trainee levels up.
Trainees can only hunt prey that is on a chance system(like the seal example) and get the full amount of EXP won, however, they don't get Pride bonus abilities. These are only usable by fully trained individuals. (So a FS trainee would not get Ambush ability till they pass their final test.)
If a trainee manages to level up enough, it may give them an edge in their final test, or possibly allow them to skip it all together, passing it automatically.
Final tests, as I mentioned them a few times, are a test of skills, or possibly merit/honor, given to trainees once they are old enough and training is complete. If they pass they become the rank they were training for. If they fail, they have to take it again, or choose another rank to train as(meaning going through training again ). Or you could give up and become a simple pride member. The test is different for each pride and individual, and you won't be told what it is until it happens. It is decided by your mentor and your pride's leaders(if you are going to be a warrior/guard or warrior-hunter, usually the General is in on the decision making). It is always based off your level, pride, rank, and sometimes personality.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Sparring
Sparring would be a nice little feature where you could challenge your follow pride mates to a friendly fight. They would have to be your level, or one above/below you, and could be an NPC. Sparring will give you a small amount of EXP, with the chance of giving a little extra.Sparring would be for everyone, including trainees, but trainees could only spar with other trainees(no matter level) training for the same rank as them.

Where Would Level/EXP/Abilities Be Stored?
This would be on your character sheet thread, posted by a mod/admin only. Yes, mods and admins would be the ones responsible for keeping it up to date, though we might make a new semi-staff position for keeping these records. Peace, however, is probably going to be doing most of it out of all of us. She's not much of an RPer, so she's decided to mostly do the stuff in the background and management.
NPCs will have their level/EXP/Abilities on their character sheets.
The stats for opponents/prey would be under the Info board, but the list of opponents/prey you can come across would be in your pride's board(likely in the Outpost and Food Pile).

Questions? Opinions? Concerns? Suggestions?
Please reply here with any of those. We'd love to hear them We don't want the RP to be "hard" or anything like that, and definitely want to give you guys the power to choose where it goes, so if you don't want this, or do and have a way to make it better, please let us know!
